Formula 1 heads home for the second of its triple-headers this season, with the British Grand Prix!
As usual, the race airs live on free-to-air television, this year’s race airing across Channel 4, Sky One, Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event, as well as on radio via BBC Radio 5 Live, giving fans plenty of options.
Although the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire hosts two races this season, only the first one will air live on Channel 4.
As revealed by Motorsport Broadcasting earlier this year, Channel 4’s contract with Sky only allows them to air the race titled the ‘British Grand Prix’ live, and not any race held at Silverstone live.
However, the site can confirm that Channel 4’s live coverage from both Silverstone races will come from the paddock for the first time this year, the team having based themselves from the Silverstone Experience during the first triple-header.
Joining Steve Jones from Silverstone will be David Coulthard, Ben Edwards, Mark Webber, Billy Monger and Lee McKenzie.
Over on 5 Live in the build-up to the weekend, Jennie Gow presents a special show looking back at 70 years of Silverstone, with guests including Coulthard, Webber and double World Champion Mika Hakkinen joining her.
Outside of the F1 sphere, both the World Superbikes and Formula E seasons get back underway, the latter restarting on Wednesday 5th August.
Scheduling clashes with the Snooker World Championship mean that Formula E’s first two races from Berlin will primarily air across Eurosport 2 and the BBC Sport website, the snooker taking priority for both.
The British Touring Car Championship also begins its campaign, with ITV4 providing extensive coverage from Donington Park.

Just curious since I don’t have sky. Do they show Porsche supercup practice and qualifying or just the race?
Also I think it’s absurd that the bbc prioritize snooker over motor racing events. Are snooker ratings really that good?
Porsche supercup is just the race.
Regarding the clash between snooker and Formula E, this clash doesn’t normally occur as the snooker tournament in question (World Championships) is normally run in the last 2 weeks of April and ends on the May Day Bank Holiday Monday. As we all know though, these aren’t normal times
Snooker is far more popular than Formula E, the final can peak with 3m+ on BBC Two if its a close game.
TV Guides back on Sunday said Sky is on air at 1.30pm for 3.10pm start, Channel 4 has it’s coverage on air at 1.00pm for 2.10pm start. Which one should i follow?

1.)No mention of Press conference timing. 2.)MyTalkTalk have told me to get Nowtv to watch my F1 racing and related progs because I questioned my new contract charges, previously they’ve given me a very fair discount because, possibly, I think, because of my age and the fact that I really dislike football, of which I get all inclusive with my F1 coverage. My new contract has given me no discount, and after telephone discussion, they told me to cancel my F1 boost, and watch F1 on NOWTV. This will cost me pretty much the same as their full charge, because that package also includes all football too, which is twice what I’ve been paying.
Has anyone any info re NOWTV, is it the same full amount of coverage as Sky, that I’ve been getting on my F1 boost? Can I record races etc as I do now?
I’m female, very old and really haven’t a clue what they’re talking about, just want my F1. Any help, please?
